Asus VZ279HE Review
We have seen plenty of budget monitors around, however, there are very few that actually leave a mark in the market. Asus VZ279HE is one such monitor that has recently hit the market, but has certainly left an impression that will last for a long time to come.
In this Asus VZ279HE review we will unveil this awesome valued budget monitor.
Who is this Monitor Suitable For?
Asus VZ279HE is a basically an affordable 27 inch Full HD monitor. Therefore, the first thing that you should take note of is that it is NOT built for professional use.
Instead, if you are a casual gamer as well as a productivity user, then this is the option for you.
One of the best features that Asus VZ279HE offers is the extensive Eye Care technology. With the increasing screen time in the modern world comes the issues of eye strain.
This monitor tackles that issue by incorporating proprietary eye care technologies to reduce eye strain for both marathon gamers as well as productivity users who work in offices.
It offers technologies like flicker free backlighting as well as low blue light filters instead of the older PWM backlight technologies that contribute to eye strain.

Can You Use this for Professional Use?
Unfortunately, if you are a professional working on projects like simulation, photo editing etc, then you may find this monitor lacking both in terms of resolution as well as color.
In terms of resolution, it only offers 1920×1080 pixels. While this is enough for day to day users and casual gamers, it is far lower than WQHD or 4K which is a standard for most pro users.
Furthermore, while it does offer an IPS panel, which are a step up in terms of color reproduction as compared to the older TN panels, it still lacks the necessary amount of colors for professional level of work.
In other words, it only offers an 8 bit color depth. An 8 bit color means it can produce 16.77 million colors. Professional users aim for at least 10 bit color depth with 1.08 billion colors.
The most powerful monitors have 10 bit color depth with 14-bit 3D LUT along with local dimming, however, those monitors are also about ten times as expensive.
As far as casual work goes, you should be able to carry that out on this without any issue.
Is it Good for Gaming?
Most certainly it is. If you are a casual gamer looking for a large 27 inch monitor for PC or console gaming, this should be able to handle that all.
However, you should not expect it to be on par with pro-gaming grade monitors. Pro gamers generally prefer to have 144Hz of refresh rate as well as 1 ms response time.
This monitor offers the standard 60Hz of refresh rate and 5 ms response time. 5 ms response time is standard for most IPS panels.
1 ms is achievable only by the older TN technology which cannot match upto an IPS panel in terms of color reproduction. Therefore, there is a trade-off between color and fast response time.
Nevertheless, for casual gaming, this should be more than sufficient. Plus the fact that it has eye care technologies installed would make sure you can game in marathon mode.
A Note on the Design
This Asus VZ279HE review would be incomplete without the mentioning of the design this model has to offer.
Not only does it have slim bezels measuring at mere 0.27″ only, it also a side profile of a mere 7mm. As such, not only is this a gorgeous monitor to behold, it is also essential for multi monitor display setup.
A slim bezel would ensure that you have a continuous viewing experience.
Furthermore, you will notice that the stand on this monitor gets its inspiration from the Asus Designo series monitors.
ASUS Designo are premium monitor that cost significantly more. Therefore, to find the same design aesthetics in a budget-friendly display such as this Asus VZ279HE is quite the delight.
Should You Buy This?
If you are a casual gamer or a casual user, then this is most certainly an excellent monitor to have.
Compared to the rest of the 27 inch budget monitors like AOC 27V2H or the Dell SE2719H, this actually offers fairly competitive price tag as well as features.
Therefore, if you are looking for a larger screen monitor for ease of use and easy viewing experience but at a budget, then this is an excellent monitor in our opinion.
A Few Drawbacks to Consider
The are a few drawbacks though. One of the biggest drawback that we found with this is that it lacks VESA mounting holes. This is a shame since a monitor with as thin a bezel as this is ideal for mounting on dedicated dual or triple monitor stands.
Another feature, while not too essential, that this monitor lacks is built in speakers. While this feature may go unnoticed, built in speakers are great for office users.
Finally, if you are particularly looking for adaptive sync feature i.e AMD Freesync or NVIDIA G-Sync, then you will NOT find any of those here.
Concluding the Asus VZ279HE Review
Asus VZ279HE is an affordable 27 inch monitor with an IPS panel that is suited for casual use.
This monitor can find its use in many scenarios i.e in offices, for casual gaming or for simple productivity. Its style and its size can easily make it the center of attraction in your room.
Perhaps the best parts here is that with its significantly slim bezels, you can create an ideal multiple monitor setup at a relatively low cost.
Finally, if you suffer from eye strain or viewing related headaches, then this monitor offers an excellent array of eye care technology.
Unfortunately, if you seek professional level of gaming or working experience, then you will be disappointed.
